This solo was written at the request of Craig Lewis of the Canadian Staff Band who asked the composer for something in the style of his earlier trombone solo 'Sing a Happy Song'.
The first tune heard is 'Hundreds and thousands' in a form for voice, cornet and piano which was used extensively by the composer and his wife while at Upper Norwood Corps. The second is built around the words 'Jesus loves me, this I know' from which the title of the solo is derived. Fragments of Ray Bowes' arrangement of 'Jesus loves me' and the Canadian national anthem are also included!
